Methyl ethyl ketone is an organic compound with the formula CH3COCH2CH3 and a molecular weight of 72.11. It is a clear, colorless liquid with a similar odor to acetone. Volatile. It can be miscible with ethanol, ether, benzene, chloroform and oil. Dissolves in 4 parts of water, but the solubility decreases when the temperature rises, and can form azeotrope with water. Low toxicity, flammable, vapor can form an explosive mixture with air. High concentrations of vapor are narcotic.
